Larchmont is a densely populated, highly diverse, half-square-mile neighborhood in the central region of the City of Los Angeles, California, where more than half the residents were foreign-born. Larchmont is the home of the Los Angeles Tennis Club and the former Black-Foxe Military Institute, a private preparatory school. Within the boundaries are such places as Lucy’s El Adobe Café, Raleigh Studios, formerly known as Famous Players Film Company and the Hollywood Historic Hotel.

About thirty-two percent of Larchmont residents aged 25 and older had earned a four-year degree by 2000, an average figure for the city.
